Nitrogen Removal
Through bacterial growth processes on the surface of the filter
media in the first and second chambers, biological anaerobic
treatment occurs while suspended solids are captured.
The
bacteria in the chambers also converts nitrates in the recirculated
water returning from the aerobic chamber to gaseous nitrogen
which escapes harmlessly to the atmosphere.
Phosphorus Removal
Phosphorus is removed as FePO4, which is a compound made
up of Iron, through electrolysis and Phosphorus in liquid. |
